China Mobile announced its TD-SCDMA subscriber number




China Mobile just announced that the number of the subscribers of the TD-SCDMA was just over 337 thousand on the TD-SCDMA summit held in Beijing. In these 337 thousand subscribers, test users are about 154 thousand, Olympics volunteer users are 105 thousand, the rest are the business customers. China Mobile launched its TD-SCDMA service from April 1st 2008.



It seems that China Mobile cannot provide enough TD-SCDMA handset to the customers’ need. According a research conducted by CCID consulting,27.1% of the surveyed users are not satisfied of the handset provided and 21.2% cannot tolerance the quality of these handsets provided. By the report of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of PRC, the mobile phone users in China will reach 600 million by the end of the year 2008. China Mobile needs to compete with China Telecom which just acquired the CDMA service from China Unicom.
